Last week Elle and I went shopping, just the two of us. I drove by a pet store and noticed they had the Humane Society outside trying to find home for dogs. I stopped and got Elle out so she could see and pet the dogs. Elle is my animal lover, especially dogs. She has been that way for as long as I could remember. She isn?t afraid of dogs unless they bark at her or are very jumpy. The thing is although I like animals, I don?t love them enough to own one. I feel like I have enough on my hands taking care of children, having pets would be like having another child ? the grooming, cleaning, feeding, training. And I am too OCD to have a pet. I can?t stand having them shedding all over my house and my clothes. Not fond of cleaning up poop or pee. They wall around outside with no shoes and come inside the house with their dirty paws. And their smell, not pleasant to me. Don?t get me wrong. I don?t hate pets or animals. In fact, we had a dog for a few years when I was in high school. I think they are quite cute and can teach children great things. It?s just not for me.
Yet another reason why we won?t a pet is because majority of us in the family are allergic to cats. And Kaye is allergic to some dogs. So with that, we for sure won?t get a pet. But poor Elle. I feel bad for her because she would just love to have a dog. She is one who would have so many adventures and memories with a dog. Every once in a while, I take her to the pet store to see dogs so she at least play with one for a few moments. Sad, huh?
