Here's an actually fun way to build up that rainy day fund: Start collecting $2 bills. They're rare, they're cool, and you'll be more likely to hold onto them.
This clever idea comes from the Budgets Are Sexy financial blog. Basically, every time you go to the bank, buy up all the $2 bills they have and then put them in a shoebox?or, better yet, make a $2 pad of cash (example in the image above).
The bills really are only worth $2 each, but they might make you feel richer and encourage you to save more. (They also make great gifts and tips.)
